The single most useful thing you can say when making a slide image is where the words go. A stock photograph is composed for itself, so every headline ends up in a scrim over somebody’s face. Name the space — right half plain, two-thirds clear, nothing in the upper band — and the image arrives already laid out for the sentence you are going to put on it. It is one clause in the request and it is the whole difference between an image and a slide.

A recurring deck has a harder problem than a one-off: the images have to keep matching each other long after whoever chose the first one has moved on. Referencing the original rather than describing it again is what holds a look across a set — which is the same mechanic that keeps a product consistent across a catalogue, applied to something far more mundane. When the look does need to be your brand rather than a neutral one, define it once and point every request at it.
