# SDKs and developer tools

> Install the Hedra Python SDK, TypeScript SDK, or CLI and build on API v3.

| Tool | Install | Source and reference |
| - | - | - |
| Python | `pip install hedra-sdk` | [hedra-python](https://github.com/hedra-labs/hedra-python) |
| TypeScript / JavaScript | `npm install @hedra/sdk` | [hedra-node](https://github.com/hedra-labs/hedra-node) |
| CLI | `npm install --global @hedra/cli` | [hedra-cli](https://github.com/hedra-labs/hedra-cli) |

The SDKs target API v3 and read `HEDRA_API_KEY`. See the
[quickstart](/docs/pages/developer/v3/quickstart) for complete SDK examples. Consult
the installed package's reference for pagination, timeout, retry, and streaming
options; those APIs can change between SDK versions.

For language models, use the existing OpenAI or Anthropic clients with the
[documented compatibility routes](/docs/pages/developer/v3/chat-completions).
To run coding tools on Hedra-hosted language models, see
[Coding agents](/docs/pages/developer/v3/coding-agents).

## API contract

[Download the v3 OpenAPI contract](https://api.hedra.com/v3/openapi.json).
Each media model also exposes its request contract at
`GET /v3/models/{model}/openapi.json`. Use these contracts to validate inputs and
inspect models introduced after your SDK version was generated.
