# Pricing and API billing

> Estimate inference costs, fund the USD API wallet, and inspect v3 usage and job charges.

v3 uses a prepaid API wallet in US dollars. Add funds in the
[developer console](https://www.hedra.com/develop/billing). Studio subscription
credits are separate; they do not fund v3 jobs.

## Estimate before submitting

For image, video, and audio jobs, send the same model-specific input to
`POST /v3/models/{model}/estimate` before submitting it. The estimate is a price,
not a completion-time guarantee, and creates no job. See the
[quickstart](/docs/pages/developer/v3/quickstart) for an example.

Model choice, dimensions, duration, and quality can affect the charge. Read the
model's published schema and pricing information instead of hard-coding a price
from an example. Language-model pricing and usage are described in
[Chat completions](/docs/pages/developer/v3/chat-completions#billing-and-concurrency).

## Inspect charges

| Endpoint | Purpose |
| - | - |
| `GET /v3/balance` | Read the API wallet balance |
| `GET /v3/usage` | Inspect usage; see the reference for supported filters |
| `GET /v3/transactions` | Inspect wallet transactions |
| `GET /v3/jobs/{job_id}` | Read the job's `cost` and `currency` when available |

`402 INSUFFICIENT_BALANCE` means the request cannot currently be funded. Inspect
the error before retrying; see [Errors and retries](/docs/pages/developer/v3/errors-and-retries).
